Western Piedmont Community College challenged VanNoppen Marketing with creating an Annual Report design that reflected both the core goals of the college and reflect its 50th Anniversary. And it had to stay true to the time-tested, easy-to-read, nuts-and-bolts operational data format typically found in annual reports.
A WPCC slogan for the past three years has been, “Charting the Journey.” It’s about empowering individuals with skills to plan and chart their future path.
But it is more than that. Our approach considered the ultimate goal offered by the WPCC to its students and to the community. It’s about the conclusion of the journey. The graduation. The celebration.
So the creative and strategic team at VanNoppen Marketing broke the mold a bit for annual reports. In a collaborative effort with the WPCC team, we designed a publication that compellingly celebrated the personal achievements of WPCC’s students and graduates; a design that was less businesslike and more personal.
We collected archives of historic information from WPCC's libraries that tracked the impressive growth of WPCC and its contributions to the region – photos, newspaper clippings and statistics.
To make the Annual Report as much as a keepsake as it is a record of financial and operational reports, VanNoppen Marketing designed a graphic-rich center spread telling the history of WPCC since its launch 50 years ago.
Our thanks to WPCC's staff and leadership for the opportunity. We are proud of the result.
