Morganton, NC – Independent family medical practice, Burke Primary Care, recently launched its Sports Medicine division with a focus on treating and preventing injuries that hamper active lifestyles of patients of all ages.
Two current Burke Primary Care physicians, Dr. Mia Griggs and Dr. G. Michael Gould, are have received training and are credentialed in the specialties typically associated with active lifestyle and sports medicine: osteopathic manipulation, musculoskeletal anatomy, otosopic and opthalmoscopic exams, bone health, neck injuries and more.
Specifically, Dr. Griggs performed her fellowship in Primary Care Sports Medicine with the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University and before joining Burke Primary Care was a sports medicine physician with Cabarrus Family Medicine. She is a member of the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine.
Dr. Michael Gould is an Osteopathic physician board in Family Practice with a focus on maintaining an active lifestyle. Osteopathic medicine provides all of the benefits of modern medicine including prescription drugs, procedure, and the use of technology to diagnose disease and evaluate injury.
Dr. Gould also offers the added benefit of hands-on diagnosis and treatment through a system of therapy known as osteopathic manipulative medicine. Dr. Gould focuses on helping each person achieve a high level of wellness by focusing on health promotion and disease prevention.
