Breathe Yoga & Wellness Studio Opening in Morganton

The first comprehensive collaborative focus on yoga in the area

MORGANTON, NC (Nov 10, 2014) – Seeing the need for a yoga studio that offers a collaborative roster of credentialed instructors and integrated classes, Registered Yoga Teacher Rhonda L. Cook is opening the Breathe Yoga & Wellness in downtown Morganton with a limited schedule in December. A full schedule available by the January 1, 2015.

Yoga is arguably the fastest growing recreational and therapeutic activity among people of all ages seeking to improve mental and physical health, life balance, and emotional well being. And Rhonda said she certainly sees that growth locally.

There are at least a dozen independent yoga instructors and organized classes throughout Burke County addressing the need. But Breathe Yoga & Wellness will offer the first comprehensive collaborative and integrated focus on yoga in the area with a roster of credentialed instructors. It will feature a variety of traditional and non-traditional yoga classes for fitness and for health.

Additionally, Breathe Yoga & Wellness will offer personalized therapeutic body and mind practices that adapt to individual goals and needs, including complementary support for treatment of conditions like depression or anxiety, inflammation, pain, obesity, prenatal care, scoliosis and even confidence and creativity-building techniques.

In the final stages of construction, Breathe Yoga & Wellness is located at 131 West Union Street in downtown Morganton. Grand opening celebrations are scheduled for New Year’s Eve.

Breathe Yoga & Wellness has pulled together a roster of certified yoga instructors from across the region. The studio will offer classes 7 days a week on most weeks, and will include classes led by teachers from many different styles of yoga, including Kripalu, Ashtanga, Vinyasa, Hatha, Restorative and Iyengar. Morning, mid-day, and evening classes will be offered. Community yoga classes and meditation sessions will be offered on a donation basis.

Cook is a registered yoga teacher at the 500-hour level (RYT500) at the Member Yoga Alliance and International Association of Yoga Therapists (IAYT). She has had a dedicated yoga practice since 2006 and has been teaching since 2011. Most recently, she received her training in Yoga Therapy through Kristine Kaoverri Weber of Subtle Yoga in Asheville, NC. She received her RYT200 training through Suzanne Cardinal of Into This World Yoga Teacher Training in San Francisco, CA.

“The difference between yoga and other forms of exercise is that yoga moves the physical body. It opens soft tissues, muscles and strengthens joints,” Cook said. “But also, in synching the body with breath, we become aware of and draw oxygen into places that need healing; we engage the parasympathetic nervous system which calms. Yoga is a practice that invigorates and grounds at the same time. It is union of mind and body.”

Breathe Yoga & Wellness will provide:

Breathe Yoga & Wellness will reflect Cook’s dedication to the yogic principals of non-harm, cleanliness, and moderation, respect for all backgrounds, and the creation of a serene, safe environment.

Teacher bios, class schedules, events, as well as purchase options for classes, packages, membership, and retail will all be available on the studio’s emerging website, www.BreatheYogaWellness.com.
