Welcome to Crosswind Cafe

Posted by: vannoppen in Uncategorized 6 years, 9 months ago

Across America, small cafes alongside airport runways have a draw all their own, what with views of runways, the hustle and bustle of general aviation and constant banter from piloting patrons.  Couple the loyalty of aviators with good food served quick and easy, service on a first name basis from people with a drive to please, and you have a bonified recipe for success.Welcome to Crosswind Café located at the Hickory Regional Airport. We met owner Teresa Rozzelle within days of her purchase of this breakfast and lunch café. She needed a new identity, a personality all her own that spoke to her aviation crowd and to the legions of in-town regulars who stop by for simple, easy and delicious meals. She needed a way to communicate her special events, her catering menus… a way to stay in touch with her customers. So we jumped at the chance and created a strategic marketing plan, a fast-track timeline and a manageable budget. Armed with that, we developed a logo that said it all and  created an identity package of letterhead, business cards, the works. We designed menus, eBlast templates and a simple but effective Website that is optimized for search engines and engineered for today’s portable electronics typically carried by pilots. We rounded out Teresa’s new look with window decals, logoed coffee cups, hats and T-shirts.To say it was another day at the office for us is an understatement. The job was straightforward, true enough. But it was a delight to work with clients as passionate and committed to their business as Teresa.Don’t take our word for it. Go in yourself (or better yet, fly in), and order up a Downwind Chili Dog or the Bigtime Brandon Burger. Or visit her Website, CrosswindCafe.com. You’ll be glad you did.Thank you Teresa.

Lake James Realty's Identity Package

Posted by: vannoppen in Uncategorized 6 years, 10 months ago

When our new client, Lake James Realty, opened its doors near Lake James, NC, owner Bryan Jones turned to us to create a corporate identity kit that would simultaneously reflect the region’s natural elements and stand apart in the competitive local real estate arena.A cornerstone of the identity package was custom-art driving map. We laboriously plotted known routes around the lake, verified directions, distances and landmarks with the help of GPS plotters.  Using sequential colorization and icons, the map highlights individual communities and popular businesses in the Lake James region. Our attention to the project’s detail went beyond graphic balance and design. We worked closely with printers to select the right papers and proper production processes, all the while carefully monitoring budgets and deadlines. It’s safe to say that Bryan is delighted with the results. It’s also safe to say that we couldn’t have done it without his sustained input and collaboration throughout. Thanks, Bryan: It’s a pleasure working with you.

Choreographing Aerial Photography

Posted by: vannoppen in Uncategorized 6 years, 10 months ago

Since we added aerial photography to our list of services several years ago we’ve seen no shortage in demand. We’ve been proud to capture and produce dramatic aerial photographs for commercial and residential real estate, municipalities, corporations, tourism and other businesses. We’ve effectively integrated these photographs into clients’ print and Web-based marketing collateral. On a crisp, early October morning we embarked on an assignment for in-flight formation airplane photography with our clients, Brandon NeSmith of Table Rock Aviation and Mariano Rosales of 12 O’Clock Level Photography. We flew our Cessna 172, modified for aerial photography, with Mariano taking pictures and choreographing plane positions from the back seat. Brandon flew the target planes, a Cessna 182 and a Diamond DA40 XLS.It was a gorgeous morning. The rising sun lit up the slopes of the Blue Ridge Mountains. A heavy mist hovered over the Catawba River. Sunlight danced off of wingtips. Fall colors were peaking all around.Mariano, a member of the International Society for Aviation Photography, traveled from his home in Chicago for the shoot. When he’s not working as an air traffic controller in Chicago he can be seen photographing all things aeronautical at air shows everywhere. Check out his web site, www.12oclocklevel.com.Brandon operates a flight school, Table Rock Aviation offering full-service flight training, out of the Hickory Airport. He holds a flight bag full of general aviation ratings and is certified to fly more makes and models of airplanes than we can count. Some days he’s instructing in a tail-dragger; other days he is in the clouds with an IRF student; occasionally he competes in aerobatic competitions, and he’s always ready to shuttle a plane here or there.
